π¬π§ VE Day Anniversary π¬π§
Today, as we mark the 81st anniversary of VE Day, Wilton Town Council will be flying the Union Flag in the Market Square to commemorate the end of the Second World War in Europe.
βWilton has a long and proud history as a "military town." For decades, we were the proud home of the British Armyβs HQ Land Command, serving as a vital hub for our nation`s defense. Today, that legacy of service continues through the incredible community at @entrainspace, providing a home and support for our veterans as they transition to civilian life.
βAs the flag flies over the square, we pause to remember the 24 men of Wilton who made the ultimate sacrifice during the conflict. Their names are a permanent part of our townβs landscape, and their legacy is captured in the simple, powerful words of our memorial:
β"They died that we might live."
βWe invite the community to pause for a moment of reflection, honouring both the history of our armed forces and the peace we enjoy today.
